Mike Fiterman, Chairman and CEO of Liberty Diversified International (LDI) has been named by Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal to its inaugural class of “Most Admired CEOs” in Minnesota.

In the article announcing the recognition, the publication’s editors said, “Mike Fiterman attributes his company’s success to a lot of people, but shies away from taking much of the credit for himself.”

The Business Journal’s print editor, Kim Johnson, said, “Our reporters and editors pored over hundreds of pages of nominations, news clippings, resumes and letters of support. We wanted honorees who are leading successful, growing organizations with good reputations in the community and as employers.”

Johnson said the publication wanted to recognize CEOs who are both well-respected business leaders and also community leaders.

The article announcing the award said of Fiterman, “He also praised his employees, saying, ‘An admired CEO is not as much about the person as it is everyone else.’”

In an interview with the publication’s editors, Fiterman said, “A true leader understands the opportunities one gains by releasing passion, capabilities and commitment within individuals who sometimes don’t realize they have that talent themselves.”

Fiterman credited his family with the support and inspiration for the success of the company and his decades-long tenure as CEO.
