Liberty Packaging Increases Sustainability Score
Liberty Packaging’s EcoVadis score recently increased by 20 points—and they’re well on their way to reaching their goal.
Built on international sustainability standards, EcoVadis is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility into their business and management system. It measures four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis boasts150,000 companies assessed across more than 250 sectors and more than 185 countries.
“EcoVadis provides a standardized way for customers and LDI to compare ourselves against other company’s sustainability,” said Kristie Frydenlund, Sustainability Manager for LDI. “It’s an easy way for them to assess ESG risk—it keeps ESG from being completely subjective.”
In the third year of the EcoVadis assessment, this is a testament not only to our commitment to sustainability, but also an increased focus on strengthening our documentation and formalizing and structuring our ESG management efforts.
“We are a sustainable company—we have a strong sustainability story,” said Jason Reu, VP Strategic Growth for Packaging. “This score alone doesn’t make us a more sustainable company, but it substantiates that sustainability is important and we’re living it.”
There were many sustainable highlights from the last year, including:
- achieving SFI certification
- establishing enterprise goals for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, water use, waste reduction, and supplier sustainability
- tracking and reporting on energy, water, GHG emissions, and waste
- implementing comprehensive ESG and Health and Safety policies
- conducting energy, waste, and/or water audits at many facilities
- piloting a Procurement Supplier Audit
